The wheels are in motion – the Reclaim the Power camp at Ffos-y-fran opencast coal mine has now been taken, and final preparation begins for the mass action on Tuesday and the launch of Break Free! (it’s not even too late to join in if you can!)
While organisers across the world have been getting ready for Break Free, our friends at PF Pictures sent crews to four of the biggest actions — in Canada, Germany, the Philippines and Turkey — to tell the story of how regular people everywhere are preparing to end the power and pollution of the fossil fuel industry. Their film, Disobedience, launches today, April 30th!
The film is a powerful journey, featuring Break Free organisers across the world preparing to mobilise for major actions this May. It shows that the global movement to keep fossil fuels in the ground is growing in size and courage.
Disobedience features author and activist Naomi Klein, 350.org co-founder Bill McKibben, as well as board member Lidy Nacpil and dozens of inspiring voices from front-line fights around the world.
It’s about 35 minutes long, and makes for inspiring watching ahead of the Break Free wave of action which kicks off on Tuesday here in Wales. Click here to stream or download the movie for free.
If you’re inspired by what you see — and I think you will be — then I hope you will both share the film, and join thousands of people across the planet in Break Free actions – either here in the UK or in Germany from 12 – 16 May.
There are local screenings happening all over the world – you could even host your own and build the conversation where you are.
Onwards, to a future beyond fossil fuels.
