Mexico-based company Dolphinaris is set to open a $20 million “dolphinarium” on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community near the suburb of Scottsdale this July.    SOURCE

We also need a petition to the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community – have they no respect either?

  1. Do not rush to the assumption that the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community are either all aware of this or all in agreement on it. Sadly, companies that would get booted out of other communities, like landfill dumps and pig factories, find their way to Native reservations in hopes that there will be less resistance to their presence. There is always the promise of “jobs” for communities that are often up to 80% unemployed. I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a “Concerned Citizens of the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community” already forming. Captivity of animals is not their way.

    • Thanks for the comment, Tracy! I have seen the same in poor, rural communities. It is always the promise of jobs and particularly “good paying jobs” that gets people rallying around things that go against their own long-term interests. Yet seldom are all those jobs realized. It’s a tactic that continues to be successful decade after decade.
