LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – Jon Stewart, the former host of the “Daily Show,” is adopting a horse whose story of abuse made national news. The mare was found covered in paint splotches, sore to the touch, and emaciated in the stall at New Holland Sales Stables where she had been abandoned in March. On Friday, the man who transported her from New Jersey, 65-year-old Philip Price Jr., was convicted of three counts of animal cruelty, a single count of dealing and handling animals without a license and a single count of importing animals without an interstate health certificate, according to WPMT.
Animals are abused every day. Wonderful people are establishing shelters and saving animals every day as well. Shelters and their owners, who often give what they have at their own sacrifice to do the right thing. It’s wonderful that the Stewarts are doing this and in doing so also bringing more awareness to the daily plight of animals who need rescuing.
