In 2008, Starbucks made a promise: the coffee giant would make their paper cups recyclable, made from 100% recycled materials, and serve 25% of their drinks in reusable mugs. Why? It turns out over four billion disposable Starbucks cups get used once and thrown in the garbage (not the recycling bin) every year. But Starbucks failed to deliver on its promises — on all fronts — and bringing in reusable mugs only goes so far. We want an easy solution that works for us and the planet. So now it’s up to us — fans of pumpkin spice, coffee and forests — to call Starbucks out for a recyclable #bettercup.
